Google and the dead deer

If the film Bambi disturbed you from a young age and gives you nightmares to this very day, then I suggest (for your own good) that you stop reading.

For what I am about to tell you could bring back those awful memories and - almost as bad - could shake your faith in the internet giant that is Google.

For the news had indeed broken that Google has (potentially) killed a dear. And the whole incident was recorded.

One of their trucks driving around taking pictures for Google Street View collided with a deer in New York State.

The first picture shows a deer standing within close proximity of the camera; the next picture shows a deer lying on its side at the edge of the road.

The images have been blacked out on the website due to concern from users, but if you really, really want to see it, you can find it on The Daily What.

In response, Google have posted a blog apologising and giving some road safety tips.

It might not make up for the damage to a deer (which, according to its blog, did in fact get up and wander off, so it wasn’t necessarily dead), but at least they’re taking note of the response from their users.
