Many years after the release of Louis Theroux’s first documentary on Jimmy Savile. He reflects on his previous misconceptions and sets out to understand how a man at the centre of British entertainment was able to get away with such a long litany of crimes for so many years. Theroux’s documentaries are always a must-see.
If you liked Daredevil or Jessica Jones (of course you did, who didn’t like Jessica Jones?) then you’re gonna love Luke Cage. In fact, possibly more. Luke Cage is a former convict with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin who now fights crime. The cast are fantastic, the ‘70s setting is done really well and oh boy it is tense. Warning: This Netflix series contains a lot of violence and everyone you love will die.
He’s back and brooding as ever. Based on the series of historical novels by Winston Graham by the same name, this BBC One dark drama set in 18th century Cornwall, tells the story of Ross Poldark who returns from the American War of Independence to his Cornish tin mines after spending three years in the army to avoid charges of smuggling.
Atlanta is a comedy-drama show by and starring Donald Glover. The series is about two cousins navigating their way in the Atlanta rap scene in an effort to improve their lives and the lives of their families. The show is refreshing and unique, playing with Glover’s eccentric brand of humour, but not so much that it lacks authenticity. Seriously, the fact that it stars Donald Glover is reason enough alone to watch this show.
