How To Hygge 🙌 A Guide To The Latest Scandi Lifestyle Trend

You're probably wondering what hygge is. I know I sure was. All I know is that if it's something Scandi, it's probably cool.

WHAT IS HYGGE?

Hygge is pretty much the feeling of cosy contentment. It's a way of life from the Danes and it basically revolves around enjoyment. To do hygge with someone – can mean to enjoy a fun or cosy experience together. Yeah, that's right, maybe something cheeky, but we'll ignore that aspect for now and focus more on the furniture and slippers vibe (it's nearly winter and my feet are cold.)

Hygge is all about atmosphere and feelings that make you feel comforted and warm. Which, quite frankly, makes hygge sound like that perfect concept to latch onto before the temperature drops.

HOW TO DO IT

Well, there's no one specific way to achieve this feeling. It's all about knowing what makes you feel good. We're all aware of Scandi design; wooden floors, minimal design, natural light, open spaces, fresh plants, but anything that speaks to your senses can help you achieve this state of mind. Plus, it's easy enough to grab a cup of coffee and a bowl of porridge and stay in bed all cosy for an extra few mins in the morning, right?

I mean you're probably not gonna be able to switch up the dingy carpet in your uni room for beautiful wooden flooring, but there are definitely ways to update your room to give you a little bit more hygge.
