Want to Earn More? Wear This to Make More £££
New research by the University of Chicago has confirmed the adage that you should dress for the job that you want, not the job that you have.
Sociologists looked at data from more than 14,000 people in America to find out if there was a link between attractiveness and income, grilling participants on their income, education and personality before rating them on the attractiveness and grooming scale.
The study confirmed that we as humans love to judge and that pretty face helps secure a sweet salary, reaffirming the results of a 2013 paper by the University of Essex that the drop dead gorgeous have their careers set up for life.
But not looking like Kendall Jenner doesn’t mean that your pockets will always be empty. The research also revealed that putting effort in your appearance (wearing more makeup, making more effort with outfits, and styling hair) boosts salaries.
Oh, and men? Grooming wasn't found to impact a guy’s “attractiveness advantage” at work. So, faking it until you make it only works for women, then.
As disappointing as this study is, we do enjoy an excuse to restock our wardrobes.
Here are five smart casual workwear picks that say "I’m confident, clever and damn cool, so show me the money!".
