Can’t Miss Adventures at Alton Towers
You’ll find everything you could possibly want at Alton Towers Resort, from luxe treehouse digs, an epic virtual reality rollercoaster, a 4D Ice Age experience and much, much more.
But with so much to do, we break down the highlights of the adventure park that 100% must tick off your list. Yes, because FOMO is a real thang.
The newest and shiniest of the rides at Alton Towers is the Galactica. This space-flight voyager is actually a rollercoaster, but get this, you’ll be wearing an augmented reality headset that'll make you feel like you’re being launched into space. You’ll fly to three galaxies, and we reckon the awesomeness of this ride is probably the only thing that Star Wars fans and Trekkies will ever agree on – it did after all impress a real astronaut (watch video above).
Roller what now? Yep, you read correctly. The Rollercoaster Restaurant looks like it's straight outta of a scene in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, and we can only dream of having this setup in our homes. Order your meal using a tablet (introverts, you'll love that you don’t have to order off actual people), then moments later, see it whizz down metal tracks straight to your table. It’s so much fun, perhaps too much fun? No way!
If you’re booking tickets in advance, it’s time to start thinking about your Halloween costume because this October, Alton Towers are hosting Scarefest, a Halloween extravaganza! Our pick is the Sub Species: The End Games live-action horror maze. Deadly creatures chase after you as you attempt to navigate out of the hedges – it’s pretty much the Triwizard’s Maze without the deathly Portkey at the end.
GET READY TO SCREAM YOUR LUNGS OUT
You can take your pick of the adrenaline-inducing rides at this theme park. Brace yourself for vertical drops on Oblivion, being hurled through a crazy 14 loops on The Smiler, and being launched through twists, turns and God knows what else on Nemesis, yes, sister to the Nemesis Inferno at THORPE PARK.
