Sunny Afternoon: Fun, Zingy and Downright Irresistible 🎸
Sunny Afternoon is the story of one of Britain’s most influential bands of the ‘60s, The Kinks. The musical tells the story of their rise from life on a dead end street to living the rock star dream of fame, fortune and glory - not to mention the troubles faced along the way!
From the very beginning of the show all the way to the finale it was go, go, go with ridiculously energetic performances from all members of the cast. The energy was on fire and this was spread throughout the audience too with people getting so involved in the happiest of ways - smiling, dancing and singing along. It was a genuinely wonderful experience to be a part of and the atmosphere was pure delight.
The venue itself added even more interactivity for the audience with the first row of seats actually being set up as bar tables. This was a really nice touch as it made everyone feel more involved in the performance and added to the overall authenticity of the production.
It was loud, it was vibrant and with an extremely talented musical cast the show really was fantastic fun! The music was by far the best part of the show, yet still the dialogue was compelling and the acting was enthusiastic and full of utterly contagious energy.
You don’t even need to know The Kinks particularly well to enjoy this musical, it’s a fizzing ball of energy that is bound to capture you. Seriously, watch out for the encore because you WILL be dancing - trust me!
