A Beginner's Guide To Running🏃
GET A PLAN
Following a plan can help keep you motivated. Especially using apps where you can track your progress and visually see how you're improving + sometimes they give you little rewards too!
Running apps like Couch to 5K from the NHS is the perfect way to kickstart your running sessions with a simple program with podcasts to help guide you through it. You're not going to be running 5k immediately, so setting yourself manageable and achievable goals is vital for sticking at it.
GET SOME RUNNING SHOES
So, running can be a particularly high impact activity on your body, which means it's vital that you choose the right kind of running shoes to support and protect your feet.
GET RUNNING BUDDIES
There's nothing better than gaining new friends from a hobby that you enjoy. Even if you don't particularly like running (yet) having accountability buddies will help you go out for a run even when you're feeling like chilling in bed all day.
GET SOME FUEL
If you're upping your exercise routine with some running, you'll need to make sure you're eating healthy to ensure your body functions well.
Load up on some carbs about two hours before a workout to make sure you have the energy to really push yourself. I am particularly fond of a crunchy peanut butter bagel with chopped banana on top - perfect fuel for a good run.
GET ON IT
If you're reading this article then you're already thinking about starting running, so go on. Just go do it.🏃
