Head To Ireland For St Paddy's Day 🍀
Did you know that St. Patrick’s Day weekend was traditionally the potato planting weekend in Ireland? Nowadays, it's a bit less about potatoes and a bit more about celebrating the Irish.
Here are some tips on how to make the most of your trip to Ireland for the big day.
STAY A LIL LONGER
St Paddy's Day is on March 17th, as it is every year, but to get the most out of your trip we'd recommend you give yourself a day either side or go for all 4-5 days of the festivities!
Everyone is going to want to join in the party in Dublin, so make sure you book your flights and hotel asap. Students get up to 30% off at Holiday Inn, so check out their Dublin locations to see if you can get yourself a sweet deal and save some pennies (for more Guinness).
You need to be wearing green, so make sure you pack some beforehand so you're not scrambling about on the day trying to piece together an outfit. Also, as tempting as it might be - definitely leave the leprechaun outfit at home, seriously. Please.
DON'T PINCH 'EM
Pinching people who aren't wearing green is a tradition in places like America, but in Ireland it's just not expected and you'd probably come across as really rather weird pinching strangers.
WAKE UP EARLY
Head to the parade early, especially in Dublin, because the event can draw up hundreds of thousands of audience members. To get a good spot, get there around 9am.
