5 Literary Women Who've Changed The World 📚
It’s World Book Day! To celebrate, we’ve put together a list of some of the fiercest ladies in literature who have helped shape the world. 📚
J. K. ROWLING
As the first and ONLY author to become a billionaire, J. K. Rowling is pretty high up on our list of fierce females who have stepped up the game. To make things even more inspiring, she fell off the Forbes list due to the fact she constantly donates huge amounts of her money to charities. Absolute GOALS. 🙌 Also… She wrote Harry Potter. C’mon.
Wollstonecraft was a pioneering force in British feminism, 💪 she was an English writer, philosopher, and advocate of women's rights. A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, is considered by many to be one of the most significant work of the early feminist movement. Pretty awesome, eh?
Angelou published her first autobiographical work, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings in 1969. The #MeToo movement has allowed many women to come forward about their experience of sexual assault or trauma, but long before this Angelou’s work was helping women know that they are not alone.
Her complete openness throughout her six autobiographical volumes and unique literary style pushed the boundaries for female writers and completely transformed the genre.
SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR
Simone De Beauvoir was one of the most prominent female writers in the 20th century and also had a crucial role in contemporary feminism. Her book, The Second Sex, is an examination of the role women have played in society throughout history and helped shape the understanding and study of gender roles versus sexuality.
It clearly runs in the family 💪 The daughter of Mary Wollstonecraft, Mary Shelley, was a writer miles ahead of her time. Her most notable work is Frankenstein; or, A Modern Prometheus which is widely considered to be the first sci-fi novel ever.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, Student Beans has created the Fempowerment Generator. With this we hope to enlighten people to the power of womankind and highlight the amazing achievements of strong women throughout history.
The women we’ve chosen to feature are full of drive, tenacity and ambition to be the best they can be. Just the way it should be. 😉 Check it out:
