Small Steps For Men Who Want To Get Into Skincare ✨
Nobody wants to be faffing over a 10-step skincare routine.
Here is a seriously basic routine for anyone who wants to get into skincare, but barely has a clue where to start.
SKINCARE IS FOR EVERYONE
First of all, let’s get this one out the bag. I’m sure you’ll have seen that the skincare aisle at your local pharmacy is aimed mainly at women. Then there are some chunky, black bottles of “BADASS MOISTURISER 4 MEN” on the bottom shelf. Don’t fall for it. You can buy whatever the f you want.
Ok, let’s get started…
Ideally you should cleanse your skin twice a day with a gentle cleanser to remove all dirt and impurities. Cleanse your face when you do your teeth, so you don’t forget and it becomes part of your daily routine. If cleansing twice a day isn’t achievable (we all get lazy I get it), then keep your cleanser in the shower. That way it’ll be there waiting for you when you have your daily shower.
You should exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. Exfoliating gets rid of all the dead skin cells that are just chilling on your face. If you get flaky skin or regularly look a little dull, then exfoliating can help this. Just make sure you choose a gentle one - large gritty exfoliants are NOT good for your skin and can create micro-tears in the epidermal layer.
You should notice that after you exfoliate your skin feels a lot smoother and you’ll have fewer blemishes as time goes by. Make sure you moisturise after though because it can dry out your skin.
Which brings us nicely on to moisturising. Moisturise twice a day after cleansing your skin. Easy as. Moisturiser will… well, obviously moisturise your skin. It helps keep skin looking fresh and healthy. If your skin still feels dry after then you’re probably not drinking enough water. Up that intake and you should see a difference in the texture of your skin.
Want wrinkles? Yeah nah, didn’t think so. The best way to prevent wrinkles or signs of ageing is to wear an SPF. You can easily buy a moisturiser with added SPF in it to streamline your skincare regime.
