I change it up a lot but my fave brekkie to keep me going is scrambled eggs & smoked salmon 🍳

What do you listen to on your commute?

Jungle (the band not the genre!) never fails to put me in a good mood. I also listen to Jules & Sarah The Podcast.

What does the average day look like for you?

My current role is very diverse, so no two days are usually the same. I often spend a lot of time planning the marketing calendar and plotting emails and social ads in to work around Oliver Bonas and commercial events. I also work closely with our data analyst to create segments and develop our triggered campaign portfolio. Another part of my role involves affiliate marketing (which is where Student Beans comes in!) I have regular catch ups with all my account managers, the world of digital marketing is forever changing, so I always need to make sure we are up to date with everything.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

Working closely with other areas of the business to come up with exciting new campaigns. I also love how diverse digital marketing is and I thrive on staying up to date with the latest trends – it is very important to network with fellow industry peers, so you will often find me at a conference or networking event.

If money was no object what would you be?

Perhaps a personal trainer or nutritionist. It’s never too late though – It could be something I can take up in my spare time! πŸ₯‘

What was your favourite thing about uni?

I would be lying if I didn’t say the social aspect, but my course in particular was very varied and involved quite a few different modules – it helped me realise where my passions lie. I have always loved the creativity of Marketing and the inner geek in me enjoys the data side of things.

How’d your degree help you in your current role?

The creative skills in particular have been a great help – how to use adobe creative suite. As my role has developed it has become more strategic, but I often have to dip in and out of helping to create assets and it’s useful to know when briefing in designers. My final year also involved a placement which helped me land my first Job At Tommy Hilfiger.

Where did you work before this?

Straight out of University I worked at Tommy Hilfiger. Originally a showroom assistant I quickly snapped up a job on the buying/merch team and then I have also worked at Cabbages & Roses (a small British brand) as a Marketing coordinator prior to Oliver Bonas.

What do you do to wind down after a long day?

I tune in to a series on Netflix or the latest episode of Love Island during summer. If I have snoozed my alarm too many times to get to the gym before work, I often go for a run or work out in the office gym straight after work so there’s no excuses before I hit the sofa to truly relax! 😌

What’s your advice to anyone wanting to be a Digital Marketing Executive.

Be aware of how diverse roles can be. It can also be very useful to start attending events such as Marketing Week Live whilst you are still at University to make you aware of how many companies are out there -as well as working for a specific brand there are many roles in agencies and tech companies too which often take on graduates!
