Coriander is the worst, and now we’ve got proof. Nearly 250,000 people have liked the a Facebook page dedicated to hating coriander.
‘I Hate Coriander’ is a group where nearly 250,000 people get together to talk sh*t about the most controversial of herbs. Please see exhibit A)
Yep, someone hates coriander so much that they got “F*** Coriander” tattooed on their leg. Now if that’s not passion I don’t know what is.
But why exactly is coriander such a divisive herb?
Studies show that people who hate coriander can blame their genetics—specifically the OR6A2 gene.
So whether you like coriander is all down to how you perceive aldehyde chemicals, organic compounds that are present in the (disgusting) herb. People who have a certain variation of the OR6A2 gene think coriander tastes like like dirty dish water, cat pee or maybe dirty socks, while people who don’t have that variation think it tastes refreshing and citrusy. Weird.
The page is so popular, they’ve even got merch now.
If you have the variation of the OR6A2 gene that makes coriander taste like absolute rubbish, then give the page a like and join your fellow comrades in the fight against the herb that ruins all meals it sits on.
F u coriander. You suck.
